This is my site Posted November 3, 2011 – 2:31 pm

Handling Applications: Missouri law prohibits any person who agrees or offers to submit a voter registration application for another person from knowingly altering, destroying, defacing, or concealing such voter registration applications.  Do not place your information anywhere on the application.

Voter Registration Qualifications: The person must be 17½ years of age to register; 18 years of age to vote; Missouri Resident; US Citizen.  In addition, they must not have been adjudged incapcitated; currently imprisoned or on probation/parole for a felony conviction; or have been convicted of an Election Offense (whether felony or misdemeanor).

Incomplete Applications: Do not fill in any missing information on a registration form unless you have permission from the applicant.  If the applicant is homeless, write “homeless” on the residence line.

Submitting Applications:  Anyone who offers to submit a completed voter registration application on another’s behalf must do so within seven (7) days of accepting or receiving the application.  The Clerk’s office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Registration Deadlines:  Voter Registration Applications must be received or Postmarked by the 4th Wednesday prior to any Election Day.

Training Requirement: Missouri law does not require training for registration drives. Please contact the Callaway County Clerk’s Office or the Missouri Secretary of State Office if you have any questions.

Online Voter Registration:  Voters may register or update their information through the only website www.govotemissouri.com by using a tablet or smartphone.  Those applications will be sent to the County Clerk’s Office by the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office upon receipt.

Obtaining Applications:  Any individual or organization conducting voter registration drives may obtain and use uniform, pre-printed state applications.  These applications can be obtained through your local County Clerk/Election Authority.  The request must be in writing and include the requester’s name, address, and telephone number.  Contact the Callaway County Clerk’s Office for applications.  Requests for more than 25 applications should be made through the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office.

Voter Registration Solicitor Requirements:  Any person who is paid or is otherwise compensated for soliciting more than ten voter registrations applications in a general election cycle must be registered with the Secretary of State as a Voter Registration Solicitor.   Any paid registration solicitor must be at least eighteen years of age and registered to vote in the state of Missouri.  Volunteers are not required to provide any information or notification to the Missouri Secretary of State or other election officials about their voter registration drive activities.

Compensation Restrictions:  It is against the law to pay or compensate any person for registering voters based on the number of voters they register, applications collected or submitted.

The information above was created with the intention as a general guide for Voter Registration Drives. Our staff is not licensed to practice law in Missouri and this information should not be used as a substitution for consultation with a licensed legal professional in Missouri.
