The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.

Insurance Update

The Callaway County Commission met with Marilyn Bartley, County Human Resources Director, Amy Wulff, Walt Street Group, and Pam Mathis, Med-Pay, to discuss a County insurance update. A representative from the County Clerk’s office was not present for this meeting.

Ms. Mathis began by presenting the Commission with an Annual Period Summary, which compared claims from 2014 and 2015. Total paid claims increased by 29% from 2014 to 2015 Total hospital payments also increased by 27%; this is mostly due to an increase in inpatient claims. Total physician claims paid also increased by 27%. However, the discount rates remained constant from 2014 to 2015.

Next, Ms. Mathis went over an Executive Summary. The net cost to the County after Stop Loss reimbursement increased 14% in 2015. There was a 7% increase in dependent enrollment. The average member cost for 2015 totaled $558.23.

Ms. Wulff then presented the Commission with a breakdown of pharmacy costs from 2014 to 2015. While the average approved price for prescriptions increased in 2015, the average patient pay decreased. The use of generic prescriptions increased to 92% utilization, up from 91% in 2014.

Overall, the County paid approximately $50,000 more for prescriptions last year than it did the year before. Finally the group briefly discussed specialty medications. Two people under the County’s plan utilize specialty medications; this is the same number as last year. However, the approved prices for the specialty drugs increased in 2015, which led to an increase in the approved prices for the specialty drugs increased in 2015, which led to an increase in the amount paid for these medications.

Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at Loganberry Inn in Fulton, Missouri.

County Recorder’s Fees Filed

Now on this day comes Christine Kleindienst, County Recorder, and files her report of fees collected by her office for the month of February, 2016. Said report was examined and ordered filed by the Clerk of the Commission.
