The Callaway County Commission met with Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.
2017 MoDOT Grant
The Callaway County Commission met with Clay Chism, County Chief Investigator, and Curtis Hall, County Deputy Sheriff, to discuss a 2017 MoDot grant application. Denise Hubbard, County Clerk was also present for this meeting.
Mr. Hall explained that the Sheriff’s Department is again applying for a grant through the Missouri Department of Transportation for traffic enforcement overtime. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department has applied for this grant since 2010 and uses the funds to focus on hazardous moving violations. In 2015, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department made 631 traffic stops during this overtime and issued 49 tickets. The grant application will ask for 24 hours of overtime per month, along with four portable breathalyzer testes, for a grand total of $9,748.
Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer made a motion to authorize the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department to apply for a Highway Safety Grant through the Missouri Department of Transportation in the amount of $9,748 and to authorize the Callaway County Commission to sign the application on the behalf of the County.
Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst seconded the motion.
