The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann. Western District Commissioner Roger Fischer, and Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst present.

Business of a general nature was conducted on this day.

 Chamber Task Force Meeting

8:15am

Presiding Commissioner Jungermann attended a Chamber Task Force meeting at the Callaway County Chamber office in Fulton, Missouri.

 River Port

9:30am

The Callaway County Commission met with members from the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce: Bill Plank, Chair Elect. Janet Weckenbery, Chair Elect; Darren Heckman, Treasurer Elect; Shawn Sappenfleld, Existing Business Manager; and Randy Allen, Director; along with members from the Callaway County Chamber of Commerce: Tamara Fitzpatrick, Executive Director; and Bruce Hackmann, Economic Development Director; to discuss a river port. Eastern District Commissioner Kleindienst was absent for this meeting Deb Goldman was present representing the County Clerk’s office.

The Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce is very interested in bringing a river port to Central Missouri. They are wanting to do a feasibility study on the port project. The feasibility study will provide many things: assess the market feasibility of various logistics based developments opportunities and prepare a marketing plan for the opportunity deemed most feasible; conduct an assessment of the suitability and investment requirements of the identified site to meet the needs of the identified development opportunities; conduct a benefit-cost analysis of the potential Central Missouri port project; quantify the economic and fiscal impacts arising from the identified development opportunity In terms of regional output, income, employment and tax revenue; and summarize the results of the analysis, develop recommendations based on those results and compile a final report and executive summary.

The funding needed to complete the feasibility study is $170,000 the proposed funding plan is broken down between Jefferson City, Cole County, and Callaway County contributing 28% each and other funding sources contributing the remaining 16% Callaway County’s portion of this is $47,600.

The Callaway County Commission needs to meet at a later time to discuss this and make a decision.

Presiding Commissioner Jungermann attended a Region F Homeland Security Oversight Committee meeting at the Cole County fire Station #4 in Jefferson City, Missouri.

 County Treasurer’s Fees Flied

 Now on this day comes Debbie Zerr, County Treasurer, and files her report of fees collected by her office for the month of March. 2017. Said report was examined and ordered filed by the Clerk of the Commission.

 Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence Fees Filed

 Now on this day comes Debbie Zerr, County Treasurer, and tiles her report of Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence fees collected by her office for the month of March, 2017. Said report was examined and ordered filed by the Clerk of the Commission.

 Tourism Tax Report Filed

Now on this day comes Debbie Zerr, County Treasurer, and files her report of Tourism Tax collected by her office for the month of March, 2017. Said report was examined and ordered filed by the Clerk of the Commission.

 Adjourn

 Ordered that the Commission adjourn until Wednesday, April 19. 2017.
