 Bridge Issues

8:30am

The Callaway County Commission met with Paul Winkelmann, County Road & Bridge Engineer, and Jon Dwiggins, Howe & Associates, to discuss bridge issues. A representative from the County Clerk’s office was not present for this meeting.

Howe & Associates has recently done beep studies on two Callaway County bridges, one on County Road 135 and one on County Road 252. Mr. Dwiggins reported that the study done on the County Road 135 Bridge has determined that the cost to replace the bridge will be approximately $300,000.

The Commission reported that they will potentially do a soft-match bridge project in 2018, depending on the cost. Also, the Commission reported that they will likely be working with Boone County in 2019 on a FLAP (Federal Lands Access Program) grant project for Burnett School Road Bridge, which will be a soft-match project. If these projects move forward, Callaway County will need to bid out for engineering services.

The group then discussed Callaway County’s current BRO funding deficit with MoDOT and a potential overlay project in 2018.

The Callaway County Commission met with Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism and local Police Chiefs at the Callaway County Law Enforcement Center to discuss Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD).
