New Term of Court

The Callaway County Commission met with Paul Winkelmann, County Road & Bridge Engineer, and Mitch Fletcher, County Road & Bridge Foreman, to discuss the New Term of Court. Denise Hubbard, County Clerk, was also present for this meeting.

Mr. Winkelmann informed the Commission that there are currently no new road petitions and no new NIDs (Neighborhood Improvement Districts). The Road & Bridge Department will begin the 2017 chip seal project tomorrow. Mr. Winkelmann also mentioned that dust control is now complete. Commissioner Kleindienst stated that he was not entirely satisfied in the way the roads were prepared before dust control was sprayed this year. Next year, he wants to speak with the Road & Bridge crew before they start the road prep for dust control.

Next, Mr. Winkelmann said that employees are still working on mowing the various areas in Callaway County. The new dump truck should be received next week and the new boom mower should be received within the next couple weeks. The group also discussed whether the fuel additive is working as expected; Mr. Winkelmann expressed that the additive seems to be working well.

Mr. Winkelmann also mentioned upcoming training opportunities for Road & Bridge employees. The in-house mechanic will be training all equipment operators on how to properly maintain the machinery. In addition, a training course for the motorgrader operators will be scheduled in the near future.

Ordered that the Commission adjourn until Thursday, July 6, 2017.
