Personnel Policy

10:00am

The Callaway County Commission met with Leah Laramore, HR Director, to discuss personnel policy. Denise Hubbard was present representing the County Clerk’s office.

Mrs. Laramore has made changes to County policy regarding essential versus non-essential personnel and how those employees are affected during emergency situations or severe weather. First, she defined who is considered essential versus non-essential personnel. Second, she made a policy on how essential personnel compensation is handled in the event of the Courthouse being closed. The proposed change is that essential personnel are not given any compensation unless they work overtime.

The group had much discussion on the issue. They talked about the policy being if the Courthouse closes essential personnel are given a comparable amount of holiday time. For example, if the Courthouse closes 4 hours early essential personnel will be given 4 hours of holiday time. It was also discussed to give essential personnel nothing additional. They are essential personnel and the job requires them to work regardless of the circumstances.

Mrs. Laramore is going to check on state law and make sure the County is not required to give any additional compensation to essential personnel and the group will reconvene at a later date to make a final decision on the policy.
