The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald

The Callaway County Commission met with Leah Laramore, HR Director, to discuss payroll issues. Deb Goldman was present representing the County Clerk’s Office.
Presiding Commissioner Jungermann opened the meeting stating that the purpose of this meeting is to discuss payroll. On November 15th there was some discussion about this, a decision to move to bi-weekly payroll was made and at the time this seemed like the best option. Since then Mrs. Laramore and Mrs. Rentschler, County Auditor, have done more research on a possible change to semi-monthly.
Mrs. Laramore said her main goal is to streamline payroll and get everyone on the same payroll cycle. She thought bi-weekly was the only option, but has since found out that she can go to semi-monthly. She will average pay and make adjustments if anyone leaves throughout the year. The pay dates will be the 15th and last working day of the month. If the 15th falls on a Saturday the pay date will be the Friday before, If the 15th falls on a Sunday the pay date will be the following Monday.
Western District Commissioner Kritzer made a motion effective April 1, 2017 to change all employees to a semi-monthly pay cycle, paying in the middle of the month and the last working day of the month. This overrides the decision made on November 15, 2016.
Eastern District Commissioner Kleindienst seconded the motion.
All in favor… Western District Commissioner Kritzer voted yay. Eastern District Commissioner Kleindienst voted nay. Presiding Commissioner Jungermann voted yay.
