2017 Health Insurance Renewal

11:00am

The Callaway County Commission met with Karen Rentschler, County Auditor, and Leah Laramore, County Human Resources Director, to discuss the 2017 County health insurance renewal. Deborah Goldman was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.

Commissioner Jungermann began by explaining that this meeting will focus on the health insurance premiums for 2017. This year has been a bad year for the County’s health insurance fund. The significant amount of claims has diminished the fund, which has led to the need to increase premiums for 2017.

The group discussed various pricing options at length. After much discussion, Commissioner Kritzer proposed the following premium rates: $500 for employee coverage per month, $500 for spouse coverage per month, $400 for child(ren) coverage per month, and $700 for family coverage per month. Mrs. Rentschler informed the group that this would increase the premiums paid into the County’s health insurance by approximately $78,000 for 2017.

Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer made a motion to set the 2017 insurance premium for employees at $500 per month, for employee and spouse at $500 per month, for employee and children at $400 per month, and for employee and family at $700 per month.

Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst seconded the motion.
