The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.
2017 DSSSF Grant Application
The Callaway County Commission met with Clay Chism, County Chief Investigator, to discuss a 2017 DSSSF (Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplemental Fund) grant application. Deborah Goldman was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.
Mr. Chism began by explaining that after submitting an original grant application for the FY 2017 DSSSF, he has received notification that the funding formula for this grant has been drastically changed for the FY 2017 cycle. The starting salary threshold has been lowered to $29,000 annually. Because this amount is the actual starting salary for Callaway County’s Road Deputies, none of these employees are eligible for the supplement. Mr. Chism stated that only three employees would be eligible for the supplement since the formula has changed; these employees include one administrative staff member and two Jail staff members. The total grant amount for the salary and benefits for these employees is $10,224.
Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer made a motion to authorize Clay Chism to modify and resubmit the 2017 DSSSF grant application in the amount of $10,224, effective July 1, 2016, and to sign the application on behalf of the County.
Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst seconded the motion.
All in favor…ayes have it. Court Order #64 — signed.
