The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.

2017 MoDOT Construction Projects

The Callaway County Commission met with Paul Winkelmann, County Road & Bridge Engineer; Michelle Kidwell, County Emergency Management Director; Kyle Bremmer, City of Fulton representative; and Mike Dusenberg, MoDOT representative, to discuss 2017 MoDOT construction projects. Charlotte Rosenstengel was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.

Mr. Dusenberg explained that MoDOT is planning 12 bridge projects around the Fulton area in 2017. These projects will result in three separate contracts; one contract will include nine bridges along Highway 54, six of which will be rehabilitation projects, two will be redeck projects, and one will be a full deck replacement. This contract will be let in March. The second contract will consist of two bridges, one on Route 0 and one on Route UU. Each of these projects will result in road closures while the bridges are being repaired; however, the projects will be done one at a time. This contract will be let in January. The final contract, due to be let in February, will consist of a full bridge replacement on Route H over Davis Creek. The total cost of these 12 projects is around $8 million.

The group discussed the individual projects at length, including how traffic along these routes will be impacted. Once the projects are let, MoDOT will be able to give Callaway County and the City of Fulton a timeline for the duration of each individual project.

Electronic Security System at Callaway County Jail

The Callaway County Commission participated in a conference call with T.J. Rogers, Accurate Controls, to discuss the Callaway County Jail’s electronic security system. Wesley Bond, County IT Director, was present for this discussion. A representative from the County Clerk’s office was not present for this meeting.

The Commission received a quote from Accurate Controls regarding the replacement of the Callaway County Jail’s electronic security system. Commissioner Jungermann asked if the County can use some existing equipment for the new system in order to reduce cost. Mr. Rogers stated that using some existing items would be possible.

Next, Mr. Bond and Mr. Rogers discussed the Jail’s existing infrastructure to ensure it could support the new system. Once the project is in the design phase, the Commission can make the final decisions regarding infrastructure upgrades and equipment.

Ordered that the Commission adjourn until Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
