2017/2018 Dispatch Contract
The Callaway County Commission met with John Bassford and Gerry Rauch, Ameren, to discuss the 2017/2018 dispatch contract. Charlotte Rosenstengel was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.
Commissioner Kritzer began by stating that the County has two-year dispatch contracts with the cities, fire departments, and Ameren for dispatch services. Callaway County has purchased a new PSAP system for a cost of approximately $150,000 and a new phone system for a cost of approximately $20,000 for the Emergency Operations Center. These new systems should be installed and running by the end of this year. Other than these major purchases, the Commission does not foresee any major changes at EOC in the next two years. However, the Commission informed the Ameren representatives that the County is still struggling to keep a full staff. The Commission is considering creating a pool for salary increases after new dispatchers complete training in an attempt to retain employees.
After further discussion, Commissioner Jungermann requested that Ameren increase their yearly dispatch fees by $5,000 to help with creating a pool for salary increases. The representatives will get back with the Commission by mid-October regarding the fee increase.
Ordered that the Commission adjourn until Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
