Wednesday, August 17, 2016

The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.

WIC Contract

9:00am

The Callaway County Commission met with Sharon Lynch, County Health Department Administrator, to discuss a WIC contract. Deborah Goldman was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.

Mrs. Lynch explained that the new contract will be effective from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. The amount of the grant has dropped since last year due to the number of WIC clients declining. Mrs. Lynch informed the Commission that if the Health Department experiences an influx of WIC clients, the Department of Health & Senior Services will adjust the contract amount and give Callaway County more money.

Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer made a motion to enter into a contract with the Department of Health & Senior Services for WIC Local Agency Nutritional Services, effective October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017, in the amount of $116,902.00. Commissioner Kritzer also moved to authorize Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann and County Health Department Administrator Sharon Lynch to sign the necessary documentation on behalf of the County.

Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst seconded the motion. All in favor…ayes have it. Court Order #84 —signed.

9:15am

The Callaway County Commission met to discuss surplus money from the 2015 Land Tax Certificate Sale. Deborah Goldman was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.

The surplus money is for Steven Wilds, who purchased property during the 2015 Land Tax Certificate Sale. The original owner of the property has since redeemed the property; therefore, the surplus money must be refunded to Mr. Wilds.

Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst made a motion to authorize Debbie Zerr, County Treasurer, to refund $2,434.38 to Pam Oestreich, County Collector. This is tax sale surplus money that was turned over to the County Treasurer on September 22, 2015 (Receipt #3780) as unclaimed surplus from the 2015 Land Tax Certificate Sale. This surplus is for Steven Wilds. The owner, Daniel Vore, has redeemed the property and the surplus from the sale is needed to complete the transaction.
