The Callaway County Commission met with the Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann, Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst, and Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer present.
County Credit Cards
The Callaway County Commission met with Karen Rentschler, County Auditor, and Central Bank representatives Marcia Lamons and Kari Less to discuss County credit cards. Denise Hubbard, County Clerk, was also present for this meeting.
Commissioner Jungermann began by stating that Callaway County is interested in learning about different options for County credit cards. Currently, the County is using small business cards. Ms. Less explained that Central Bank has a new program called Multi-Card that is for government entities. She explained that these credit cards can have an optional $0 limit and when an employee needs to use it, the County Auditor can simply load the appropriate dollar amount onto the card through the bank’s website. Mrs. Rentschler stated that this type of method would be similar to the County’s Purchase Order system.
Ms. Less also mentioned that the credit cards could either have individual’s names or department names printed on them. Some incentives of this program include monthly rebates, no APR, and automatic debit payments for the balances of the credit cards. Transaction information can be seen in real time on the bank’s site and authorized changes to the card’s limit are immediate.
After some discussion, Ms. Less stated that if the County wanted to move forward with the Multi-Card program, the next step would be to sign an agreement and to create a list of employees and/or departments that will need a credit card, along with a monetary limit for each card.
Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst made a motion to enter into an agreement with Central Bank for a Corporate Multi-Card system and to authorize Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann and Karen Rentschler, County Auditor, to sign the agreement on behalf of the County. Commissioner Kleindienst also moved to nominate Karen Rentschler as the administrator of this County account.
Western District Commissioner Doc Kritzer seconded the motion.
