2017 DSSSF Grant

9:00am

The Callaway County Commission met with Clay Chism, County Chief Investigator, to discuss the 2017 DSSSF (Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplemental Fund) grant. Deborah Goldman was also present for this meeting to represent the County Clerk’s office.

Mr. Chism explained that the Sheriff’s Department is again applying for the DSSSF grant, which supplements deputies’ salaries.  The grant sets a minimum salary of $29,000 and caps it at $35,000. This means that those covered by the grant that make less than $29,000 will be brought up to that amount and those making over $35,000 are excluded from the supplement.  Mr. Chism stated that this year, the grant may raise the minimum salary to $30,000.  He also explained that the way this grant works is that those making over the minimum salary are given a $1,200 annual supplement and those making under the minimum salary are given a supplement that brings them up to the minimum amount.  The total amount the Sheriff’s Department is applying for the 2017 grant cycle is $128,827.62

Western District Commissioner Donald Kritzer made a motion to authorize the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department to apply for the 2017 DSSSF grant in the amount of $128,827.62

Eastern District Commissioner Randy Kleindienst seconded the motion.
